Meet Your Candidates

The SPARK Nominations Committee is pleased to present the following nominees for consideration for the 2020 SPARK Board of Directors.

Their qualifications and skills were carefully considered against the identified needs of the Board of Directors, and as such we are pleased to endorse four (4) nominees based on their qualifications* and breadth of experience. Candidates with † beside their name indicate that they have been endorsed by the SPARK Board of Directors for possessing the published skills, experience and diversity the Board needs.

We encourage all members to exercise their right to vote for the candidates of their choosing.

Who is eligible to vote?

You must meet the following requirements to vote:
  • 18 years of age or older
  • an active member of SPARK The Energy Credit Union
When can I vote?

Voting is open from January 30 to February 28.

On February 28, in-person voting will close at 3:00 PM. Mailed-in ballots that are postmarked later than February 28 will be destroyed and will not count towards the final tally.

Online voting will close February 28 at 11:59 PM MST.

How many people can I vote for?

You can vote for one, two, three or four candidates. While there are four vacant positions in the SPARK Board, you are not required to vote for four candidates if you do not wish to do so.

Where can I vote in person?

You may vote in person at any one of our three offices during regular branch hours.

I made a mistake on my ballot. Can I complete another one?

Unfortunately not. The ballot submitted is the ballot that will be counted.

When will election results be announced?

Election results will be announced at SPARK's Annual General Meeting on March 10, 2020. The Nominations Committee will advise all candidates of the status of their candidacy the week prior to the AGM.

For those unable to attend the AGM, election results will also be shared on SPARK's e-newsletter release following the AGM.

How do I vote?

You can vote online, in-person, or by mail.

  • Online: If you would like to vote online, simply log in to MemberDirect Online banking and look for the Board of Directors Voting Form on the bottom left-hand side of the page.
  • In person: If you prefer to vote in person, visit a SPARK branch and we will provide you a paper ballot with a unique voting ballot number.
  • By mail: If you are unable to visit a branch and would like to vote by mail, simply complete the paper ballot request form on this page and we will mail you a unique ballot, along with a postage paid voting envelope within 24-48 business hours. Please complete one request per member.

Online Voting

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I meet SPARK's voter eligibility criteria and I am registered for MemberDirect Online Banking. Why can't I see an option to vote when I sign in?

Online Voting is currently only available on the desktop version of SPARK Online Banking. We recommend you vote using a desktop or a laptop computer.

If you are trying to vote using your smartphone, make sure you are not using the SPARKCU Mobile Banking App. Instead, go to your browser and visit the SPARK full site, then sign in to online banking as you normally would.

Look for the menu option "Board of Directors Voting Form" located on the bottom of the left-hand side menu of your online banking profile (under My Accounts).

I followed the above instructions but I am still unable to see the Board of Directors Voting Form. What gives?

If you did not sign up for MemberDirect Online Banking by January 15, 2020, you were not included in the eligible online voter list that was uploaded to our online voting tool. You may still exercise your vote, however you would be limited to voting in person or by mail.

I am attempting to view the candidate profile through the Board of Directors Voting Form, but I am only seeing half of the page. What could be the issue?

We encourage you to clear your cache and cookies, close the brower and relaunch the page.

If this still doesn't work, check you browser. There is a known issue related to Internet Explorer that prevents some profiles from loading correctly. We recommend that you use Chrome, Firefox, or Safari to avoid this issue.
