Join the SPARK Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of SPARK The Energy Credit Union encourages our member-owners to submit their candidacy application for the SPARK Board of Directors. There are four (4) vacancies in the upcoming election cycle.

As a member-owned and operated financial institution, SPARK is governed by a team of diverse and highly competent directors. In consultation with the SPARK Executive Leadership Team, directors are tasked with corporate oversight, bound by the following duties: 
  • Duty of Care: Take care of SPARK by ensuring prudent use of all assets, including facility, people, and good will;
  • Duty of Loyalty: Ensure SPARK’s activities and transactions are, first and foremost, advancing its mission; recognize and disclose conflicts of interest; make decisions that are in the best interest of the membership, not in the best interest of an individual board member (or any other individual or for-profit entity); and
  • Duty of Compliance: Ensure SPARK obeys applicable laws and regulations; follows its own bylaws; and that SPARK adheres to its stated corporate purposes/mission.

This 2021 Candidate Information Package will provide you with further details on the minimum qualifications and preferred experience areas for prospective candidates, and the process for submitting the required nomination forms.

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the information outlined in our 2021 Candidate Information and Application Package, and follow the application process outlined below:

1. Download and review the 2021 Candidate Information and Application Form, to familiarize yourself with the application process, minimum requirements, and important dates and deadlines.

2. Complete and submit the completed Candidate Application no later than January 15, 2021, 3:00 PM (MST).

Our Board Elections will be open from February 15 to March 5, 2021. Election results will be announced at our Annual General Meeting on March 23, 2021.
